Simon Tay is a literary writer and public intellectual. His anthology of poems “5” was highly commended by NBDCS in 1985. His story collection Stand Alone (1991) was also highly commended by NBDCS and was shortlisted for the Commonwealth Writer’s Prize (both 1992). His novel, City of Small Blessings (2009) won the Singapore Literature Prize in 2010. Tay has read at the Singapore Writers Festival, the Edinburgh International Book Festival and other literary festivals in the USA and Australia. He has been a Fellow at the Iowa Writers Workshop. In 1995, he was named a Young Artist of the Year by the National Arts Council. He has collaborated with film makers, painters and dance choreographers.
